Canterbury public health officials say continuing to chlorinate Christchurch's water supply would be wise.

The supply has been treated since a 2017 engineering report revealed the city's water network was susceptible to contamination.
The region's Medical Officer of Health, Alistair Humphrey, told city councillors today the Ministry of Health's new water standards had a reduced tolerance of risk.
He has recommended chlorination continue until the city's water plan is approved by central government.
The plan is expected to be delivered to the Ministry of Health by the end of September.
