The drug-buying agency says one milligram tablets of lorazepam, which is also used to manage sleep problems, will not be resupplied until early-to-mid August.

Pharmac has told pharmacies to dispense a week's supply at a time to ensure it is fairly distributed to patients.

It will investigate why the drug company Aspen has not met its obligation to hold at least two months' supply of any medicine in New Zealand.
