The Cost of the Drought

Scott and Sue Narbey say this year's drought has cost them $140,000. The Helensville dairy farmers have had to buy in tonnes and tonnes of  feed and drying off early meant their 400 strong herd earned them $70,000 less than expected. It rained in December and there's been very little since. The Narbey's neighbours have been taking rainfall readings for 70 years and say there's not been a drought like it.
