Solomons foreign minister satisfied with donor meeting

08:42 am on 19 November 2004

The Solomon Islands Foreign Minister, Laurie Chan, has expressed satisfaction with the donor response to development plans for 2005.

The donor meeting was attended by representatives from donor countries and institutions including New Zealand, Australia, Japan and the European Union.

Mr Chan says the response has been good in relation to government's progress report on the 2004 budget, also presented yesterday.

"I came into the donors meeting feeling pretty good, I thought we'd have an 80 per cent success rate, but I think it's, the gap's closed, and it's looking about 95."

Mr Chan also says the government has made substantial progress with its activities in line with its National Recovery Plan which was presented to donors last year.
