Welsh Rugby Chief says Gatland should be applauded

The Welsh Rugby Union chief executive Roger Lewis insists coach Warren Gatland should be applauded for his honesty in admitting he considered cheating during the World Cup semi-final.

At a news conference Gatland admitted he considered asking a prop to fake an injury, which would have led to uncontested scrums.

That would have helped Wales, as their pack was already a man down following the dismissal of captain Sam Warburton.

Now the IRB is to review Gatland's comments but Welsh Rugby Union chief executive Roger Lewis says what's important is that Gatland didn't inact that option because he wanted to play in the spirit of the game.
