Six hurt in SH1 crash near Taupō

Six people have been injured in a collision on State Highway 1 near Taupō.

Emergency services were responding to a crash involving two vehicles at the Tauranga-Taupō bridge between Heuheu Parade and Hingapo Rd.

Police said they were called to the scene at 11.25am on Monday.

"At this stage six people are reported to have suffered moderate to serious injuries.

"The road is blocked in both directions and motorists are advised to delay travel and avoid the area."
