NZ share market up on Wednesday

The benchmark NZX50 index rose 31 points, or almost 1% on Wednesday, to close at 3270 on turnover of $94 million.

In currency markets, at 5.20pm the NZ dollar was at 76.22 US cents, 76.17 Australian cents, 48.92 pence, 59.47 yen and 0.5726 euro.

The Trade Weighted Index was at 67.94.

Fletcher Building was up 4 cents at $5.92, Telecom was up 4 cents to $2.03, Chorus was down 2 cents to $3.29, and Contact Energy was down 1 cent at $5.32.

Sky City Entertainment was up 8 cents at $3.38 and Sky Network TV was down 2 cents at $5.45.

Fisher & Paykel Appliances was down 0.5 cent at 35 cents and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 2 cents at $2.40.

Auckland Airport was up 2.5 cents at $2.34 and The Warehouse was down 1 cent to $3.16.

Methven was up 2 cents to $1.13 after its half year profit fell by a quarter to $3.2m.

Freightways was unchanged at $3.35, Mainfreight was up 7 at $10.42 and Tower was up 1 cent at $1.51.

Sanford was unchanged at $4.40 after its full year profit fell nearly 11%.
