An American Samoa victim's rights advocate, Ipu Lefiti, has applauded calls to use chemcial castration against sex offenders.
Territorial senator, Tauaa Sam Vaouli, is sponsoring legislation, which requires chemical castration of convicted sex offenders.
Ipu Lefiti said the measure provokes a deep dialogue on the consequences of sexual abuse and violence.
She said the idea of chemical castration may seem frightening to an adult but their concerns are nothing compared with the impact of sex crimes perpetrated on children.
