The regional team beat Qatar 2-1 in their second Asia Oceania Group Three tie in Amman, Jordan to finish second in their pool behind Vietnam.

Vanuatu teenager Clement Mainguy beat Rashed Nawaf 6-3 7-5 in the opening singles rubber to secure his first win at senior Davis Cup level.

Colin Sinclair from the Northern Marianas secured the win with a clinical 6-1 6-0 victory over Mousa Shanan Zayed.

With a spot in the promotion playoffs already secure, Pacific Oceania took the opportunity to give Tahiti's Heimanarii Lai San his first taste of Davis Cup action in the doubles.

However Lai San and Brett Baudinet from the Cook Islands were no match for Zayed and Sultan Khalfan Al Alawi, who prevailed 6-0 6-2 in the dead rubber tie to ensure Qatar avoided a clean sweep.

Pacific Oceania will now take on Group C winners Syria in one of three cross-over playoffs for promotion to Asia Oceania Group Two next year.

Group A winners Hong Kong are up against Group C runners up Jordan, with Group B winners Vietnam taking on Group A runners up Malaysia in the other two matches.
