Despite New Zealand being officially out of recession, most people believe it is still in the grip of a downturn.
A survey of 500 people by Research New Zealand at the beginning of December found 69% believed the country was still in a recession, with 25% saying it was not.
And 82% of those who believe New Zealand is still in a recession, said the economy was having either a lot or some impact on them.
One third of the respondents said their personal financial situation was either a lot worse, or somewhat worse, than this time last year.
One third felt there had been no change and a third said it was either a lot or somewhat better.
