Fiji opposition parties join forces

Two opposition parties in Fiji have joined forces to contest the next election as political manoeuvring starts for the polls due next year.

The People's Democratic Party is teaming up with SODELPA, led by Sitiveni Rabuka and the largest opposition party in parliament at present.

The PDP failed to gain any seats in 2014 as its vote total fell short of the threshold for entering parliament.

The PDP's leader Lynda Tabuya told Sally Round her party's agreed not to field any candidates in the next election and she will stand under the SODELPA banner.
