Complaint made against Vanuatu's acting police chief

Vanuatu's assistant police commissioner has filed a complaint against his superior, acting police commissioner Robson Iavro, over allegedly assaulting a junior police officer at the Lugainville police headquarters.

Jackson Noel said a female officer witnessed the incident and assault against an officer was both against the law as well as a bad example, the Daily Post newspaper reports.

Mr Iavro was not available to comment.

His term as acting head of police has recently been extended for a further six months.
