Clarke confident despite rout

12:19 pm on 22 July 2013

The Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke believes his side has the talent to fight their way through their Ashes nightmare, amid calls for outside reinforcements.

The tourists were overwhelmed by 347 runs in the second test at Lord's, dismissed for 235 in the second innings, with Clarke and Usman Khawaja the only batsmen to get past 50.

Only one team in Ashes history has fought back from 2-0 down to win a series, and that was Australia more than 70 years ago during the Bradman era.

Australia have now lost six tests in a row and one more defeat will equal their worst-ever losing run.
