Researchers in Sweden say there could be a link between eating processed meat, such as bacon or sausages, and pancreatic cancer.
A new study indicates that eating the equivalent of one sausage or two slices of bacon each day could increase a person's risk of developing the disease by 19% - compared with people who eat no processed meat at all.
The BBC reports chances of being diagnosed with the disease in the first place remain relatively small, but pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly with a very low survival rate.
Processed meat has already been linked to bowel cancer and the British government recommends people limit their consumption to no more than 70 grams a day.
The World Cancer Research Fund points out there is a much stronger link between pancreatic cancer and smoking or obesity.
