More than a year after the inital outbreak of Covid-19, a team of experts went to Wuhan on a two week trip to trace the origins of the virus.

The World Health Organisation mission included international experts and Chinese scientists.

The team say it's likely the virus spread from humans from an animal and have dismissed the "extremely unlikely" theory the virus leaked from a lab.

The group's findings is the first step in understanding the roots of the virus that has led to this global crisis.

Professor Dominic Dwyer is a virologist and specialises in infectious diseases and is the Australian representative in the team of experts who went to Wuhan.

He spoke to Worldwatch reporter, Perlina Lau.
