Woman attempts to smuggle $2.75 million of cocaine into Auckland in suitcase

Cocaine worth up to $2.75 million has been seized by customs at Auckland International Airport.

A woman has appeared in the Manukau District Court after customs agents found 3.25 kilograms of cocaine in the lining of her suitcase and and 2.25 litres of liquid cocaine concealed in bottles of hair products.

She arrived on a flight from Dubai.

More than two litres of liquid cocaine was also found hidden in shampoo bottles.

Customs manager Steve Waugh said anyone who tried to smuggle drugs should expect severe consequences.

"Regardless of nationality or travel routes, anyone who tries to smuggle illicit drugs can expect to face consequences. Customs is committed to protecting our communities from the harm these drugs cause."
