Another person is believed to have died after being caught in flood water, bringing the death toll from Cyclone Gabrielle to seven.
In a statement on Friday, police said they were investigating the death in Waiohiki, near Napier.
Formal identification is yet to take place.
Police also identified the man who was found dead in floodwaters on his Te Karaka, Gisborne property on 14 February.
He was 64-year-old John Robert Dudley Coates.
His death is not considered suspicious and will be referred to the Coroner.
