The women's world golf number one, New Zealand's Lydia Ko, says she will donate any winnings from this week's LPGA event in Texas to the relief effort for the Nepal earthquake.

Although the 18-year-old Ko needs just over $2000 to push her over the $US3 million career earnings mark, none of the money earned this week will go into her bank account.

She said in the wake of the Christchurch earthquakes she wanted to do something for the people of Nepal.

Ko is chasing her third win of the year and the eighth of her career in the Texas event.
