Police have released the name of the man who died in a two-car crash on SH25 near Te Puru on 27 December.
He was Jason David Taana, 33, of Waiomu.
Police were called to the scene between Thames and Coromandel just before 9am.
Taana was fatally injured and four others received minor injuries.
Police said they extend their sympathies to Taana's loved ones and that enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
