Nepalese national Chandra Bahadur Dangi, who is also known as Prince Chandra, died in the Intensive Care Unit at a hospital in Pago Pago on Friday night.

Mr Dangi, who was 54.6 centimetres tall, held two Guiness World Records -- the world's shortest man and the shortest person ever recorded.

Mr Dangi was in American Samoa as part of Bruno's Magic Circus.

A High Chief, Pulu Ae Ae Junior, who sponsored Mr Dangi's visit, says he was admitted to hospital a week ago with pneumonia and never recovered.
