Police investigating fatal crash involving pedestrian in Northland

Police are asking for the public's help as they investigate a fatal crash in Northland.

In a statement, police said the crash involved a vehicle and pedestrian in Kaitaia on Friday night.

The crash happened around 11.45pm on Wireless Road.

One person was taken to hospital with critical injuries, but died soon after.

Police said investigators are trying to "piece together" what happened in the lead-up to the crash and are seeing information from the public to assist them.

"We are asking anyone who was in the area between 11:30pm-12am to please get in touch.

"Anyone else who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the crash is also asked to contact police via our 105 phone service or online, using Update My Report."

The public is asked to reference file number 230401/3048.

Information could also be given anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 0800 555 111, police said.
