In a statement, Wellington City Council said half its waste contractors have been struck with Covid-19 and other winter illness.

Residents can drop off glass at the Southern Landfill for free, or stockpile it until kerbside collection resumes.

There are also delays in kerbside rubbish and co-mingle recycling collections. The council said if collections are missed, people should leave them out overnight for collection the next day.

Glass collection was stopped for more than a month in March, and rubbish and co-mingle recycling services were reduced, because of Covid-19 impacts.
