The Tongan company behind a proposed gaming resort says its development would provide much needed investment into a 'bleeding' economy.
Tavake Tamafua have submitted a proposal for a 400 million US dollar tourism development which would include an airport hotel, shopping mall, luxury villas and a gaming resort.
The government has stated that gambling is illegal in the country and a public outcry ensued over the move.
Director 'Epeli Taione says while he understand the concerns, there is a need to think outside the box.
