Napier City Council is urging residents to be extremely careful with their water use over the long weekend will be enforcing restrictions, it says.
The council says the weather all long weekend is forecast to be very warm with dry conditions, and people should conserve water.
Water restrictions this weekend could prevent potentials cuts to the water supply next week, the council said.
The dry weather combined with the closing of one of the city's major water tanks, which returned positive E-coli results, was forcing the tight controls.
