A 62-year-old woman has been charged with arson and the murder of Gisborne man Ronald Russell Allison in 2013.
Allison died in a suspicious fire at his home in Te Karaka, near Gisborne in the early hours of 25 January 2013.
The 88-year-old lived alone and had limited mobility.
Police said a the fire began in the kitchen and the wooden farmhouse quickly razed to the ground.
Allison's death had been the subject of an open and active investigation for nine years.
A $100,000 reward for information was announced by police in November 2020 but this expired without claim in April 2021.
The woman will appear in the Hamilton District Court today.
