One person is in a critical condition after a three-vehicle crash in Oamaru.
Emergency services were called to the scene on State Highway 1, also known as Hilderthorpe-Pukeuri Road, just after midday.
Four people were airlifted to Dunedin Hospital - one in critical condition, and three serious.
Three others were being treated for moderate injuries at Timaru and Oamaru hospitals.
The road was closed between Seven Mile Rd by Oamaru Airport and Georgetown-Pukeuri Rd.
