British comedian David Walliams has announced he will perform his one-man daytime show, The David Walliams Book Show, when he visits New Zealand later this year.

In The David Walliams Book Show, the author shares stories about his childhood, talks about the inspiration for his most famous book characters, acts out some extracts and shares funny fan letters.

"Kids will have the chance to ask me anything, with a star prize for the best question," Walliams said.

Williams first novel, The Boy in the Dress, was published in 2008. Since then he's written titles such as The Blunders, Robodog, The World's Worst Monsters, Spaceboy, The Midnight Gang, Ratburger and his most recent book Astrochimp set for release later this month.

The books by the well-known Little Britain star are published with fun illustrations, lending themselves to live readings and expanded storytelling based on adventures and characters from his own life.

The interactive daytime shows, suitable for children, will be held in Auckland at Kiri Te Kana Theatre on 28 September, then the St James Theatre in Wellington with a third show at Christchurch Town Hall.

Tickets go on sale at noon on 14 June from tegdainty.com.
