Fijians head to work in Australian meat plants

Twenty Fijians left the country this week to work in meat plants in Australia under its Pacific Labour Scheme.

Fiji joined the scheme in April this year.

Under the scheme, the Fijians can work in Australia for up to three years.

The Fijian government said employment of Fijians in other Australian sectors such as aged-care, hospitality and agriculture was being explored
