One of the men charged with murdering an Auckland couple can now be named.
Shu Man Poon is one of two men accused of killing Joseph Kwok and his wife Mei Han Chong at their Ellerslie home in November 2023.
The 42-year-old was refused extended name suppression during an appearance in the High Court at Auckland Wednesday morning.
Poon was charged alongside a 26-year-old man who cannot be named.
Justice Matthew Downs explained to the pair that additional charges had been laid against them for conspiring to commit murder.
Their trial is expected to begin in April 2025.
Joseph Kwok and Mei Han Chong moved to New Zealand from Hong Kong in 1988. They are survived by a son.
Chong had been a nurse before becoming a midwife.
Kwok worked as a theatre nurse at North Shore Hospital.
