A man has appeared in the Christchurch District Court this afternoon charged with the murder of a farm worker in Rakaia.
Tony Waldron, 29, was found dead at his Rakaia home, north of Ashburton, on 18 September.
A 26-year-old man made a brief appearance in court today.
He was granted name suppression and was remanded in custody until his next appearance on 21 October.
Detective Senior Sergeant Richard Quested said the investigation is far from over, and there was still a lot of work for police to do.
He said their thoughts were with Mr Waldron's family, and they are committed to providing the family with answers.
The police have been searching an area of the Selwyn River bank in recent days.
