A high-ranking United States diplomat says he is satisfied with the work that was done at the Pacific Islands Forum

The US sent a large delegation to the Forum - more than 50 people from a number of different parts of government.

The assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Kurt Campbell, says the US is broadening its commitment to the relationship with the Pacific.

"I think the United States has determined that we want to make progress on the tuna treaty, there are a number of areas that we want to work together on maritime domain awareness, on environmental issues, on the status of women throughout the Pacific. So we're very excited. I'm very very satisfied."
