A man admitted to American's Samoa's LBJ Medical Hospital in Pago Pago with possible symptoms of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, SARS, has been cleared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The man who had traveled to Hong Kong almost a month ago, visited the Emergency Clinic earlier this week, complaining of respiratory symptoms, and was placed in isolation and under observation.

However, the hospital's Chief Executive, Taufete'e John Faumuina says after confirmation from CDC that the man does not meet the World Health Organisations' case definition for suspected SARS, he's been safely allowed to go home.

Taufete'e also assured the public that there is no reason to be alarmed as the government has taken precautions to control and prevent SARS from being spread in the territory.
