Estimations of an about 50 percent turnover of MPs in Papua New Guinea's general election are on track as counting progresses in most provinces.

In the last three elections PNG has voted out over 50 percent of sitting MPs.

Of the 69 seats for which the Electoral Commission has released preliminary vote count updates, sitting MPs lead in 34.

New Ireland Province is the only province where all sitting Members are leading in their respective electorate.

One female candidate is in the lead for her seat - Delilah Gore in Sohe electorate of Oro Province.
