New Plymouth is facing a bill of $4.6 million for repairing roads damaged during the June floods.
The council expects to fund just over $1m of that from existing emergency funds but almost $400,000 will be added to roading costs in its 2016-17 annual plan.
The Transport Agency is expected to pick up just over $3m of the tab.
By comparison, the Stratford District Council is facing a bill of $3m and the South Taranaki District Council has estimated repairing its roads will cost between $8 and $10m.
Whanganui, however, bore the brunt of the storm: it expects it will cost up to $35m to repair the district's roading network.
