The 21-year-old, who has continued name suppression, appeared in the High Court at Auckland this morning.

The infant died in Middlemore Hospital on 13 April after being assaulted at an address in Papatoetoe.

The man accused of the baby's murder entered a not guilty plea through his defence lawyer Marie Dyhrberg QC this morning.

Justice Fitzgerald continued name suppression and remanded the man in custody to reappear next month.

He will go to trial in July next year.
