Vanuatu's Police Fraud Unit has warned about scammers targeting seasonal workers, saying it has a number of registered cases related to this area.
A spokesman for the Fraud Unit has called on people to be on alert for individuals who approach them with attractive seasonal work offers.
In particular, all potential seasonal workers should be wary of offers to help them speed up their applications or even to fund their entire travel arrangement.
The spokesman said such persons are not to be trusted as all they are interested in is to rob young men and women who have worked hard to fund their trips to either New Zealand or Australia.
In the latest development one such individual was apprehended by a group of frustrated people and handed over to police in Port Vila.
