More than 120 extra vaccination sites will be open for 'Super Saturday', with the Health Ministry saying vaccines remain NZ's "number one protection against Covid-19". See how the day's Covid-19 news unfolded with RNZ's live blog.

In today's Covid-19 update from the ministry, in which it revealed the number of new community cases had dropped slightly to 65, it said it was asking everyone in Aotearoa to either get vaccinated or support someone to get vaccinated as part of the national day of action for vaccination tomorrow.

"There will be more than 120 extra vaccination sites open, with many sites operating with extended hours and events and prizes on offer around the regions."

Meanwhile, a second test for Covid-19 in Te Awamutu's wastewater has come back positive.

The sample was taken on Wednesday, after an earlier detection of Covid-19 in wastewater on Tuesday. The Ministry of Health is urging people who are symptomatic to come forward to be tested.

"Public health officials have yet to identify anyone who returned to the area from managed isolation and quarantine and could be shedding the virus in the area."
