A South Auckland politician says people are more frustrated than worried following another shooting incident in Ōtara.
The male teenager is in a stable condition in Middlemore Hospital following a shooting incident in Ōtara on Friday night.
The Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board chairperson, Lotu Fuli, said the public is concerned.
"I get the feeling that there's more a sense of frustration. People are frustrated that these things are happening," Ms Fuli said.
"But also people are frustrated that all the focus seems to be on these very few isolated incidents. There's a lot of really good things helping in our community and there seems to be no focus on that."
Ms Fuli said she hopes the police can put as many resources on shooting incidents as they do on Ihumātao, where protesters are currently occupying land that Fletcher Building has pruchased for a housing development.
