The government has extended a lease so Christchurch's container mall can stay open until next year.
Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee announced today the Re:Start Mall would be able to stay on its site in the central city until January. The original lease was due to expire in May this year.
The mall, made out of shipping containers, opened in 2011 and sits on a mix of Crown and private land.
Mr Brownlee said the Crown lease had been extended.
