Two people have been killed in a crash on State Highway 1 at Karapiro in Waikato.

A car and truck collided on SH1/Tirau Road about 1.40am.
The two occupants of the car died at the scene.
The highway is closed between Karapiro Road and SH29 and diversions are in place.
