A man has been arrested after failing to stop for the police and later crashing into a police car.
The police say they chased the man's car along a number of rural roads near Edgecumbe in Bay of Plenty and then on towards Whakatane about 7.30am today.
Spikes were put on the road but the car kept going on its wheel rims until it collided with a police car a short time later. It also hit another car.
No one was injured.
