Mandatory vaccines could be part of New Zealand life for some time to come, with the Prime Minister reluctant to talk about when they might be lifted.

The first deadline is for for health and education workers - by next Tuesday all of those eligible must have had their first dose, and their second by the 1 January.

Partially vaccinated teachers will have to be regularly tested for Covid-19 for the rest of 2021.

Western Bay of Plenty Principals Association president Suzanne Billington represents more than 60 schools from Whakatane to Waihi.

She is worried some of them won't be able to open next week.
