A taxi was taken at knifepoint in New Plymouth on Tuesday night.
The driver was unharmed and called police once he was out of the vehicle.
The taxi was taken about 9.20pm. The abandoned car was later found at a property on the outskirts of the city.
Police said a man has been arrested.
