Speed limits will be cut on 47 roads around Kāpiti Coast, with a view to making them safer.
Kāpiti Coast District Council voted on the changes at the end of last week, after hearing from more than 220 submitters.
Speeds in Raumati and Paekakariki Village centres will now be 30km/h.
While on about 30 rural roads, the speeds are dropping from between 70-100km/h, down to 60km/h.
Council infrastructure manager Sean Mallon said the changes were in response to residents' requests.
He said the review had been all about making the roads safer, and ensuring the speed limits reflected the form and function of the road.
