The state of the financial accounts at the Christchurch City Council is due to be revealed on Wednesday, with the release of a report into its finances.
The insolvency and corporate recovery firm KordaMentha was appointed last year to look at the council's financial health, following the election as mayor of Lianne Dalziel, who had pledged to open the books.
At the time she said KordaMentha had been chosen to take a hard look at the city council's true financial situation.
The findings are expected to be crucial, as the council continues to grapple with the rising costs of the rebuild and its cost-sharing agreement with the Government.
