The Australian high commissioner to Vanuatu says there will be more support as the country rebuilds from Cyclone Harold.

Australia has contributed nearly $US2.5million in relief supplies while also supporting Covid-19 preparations.

Sarah deZoeten said the focus so far has been on immediate relief such as medical supplies, tarpaulins, shelter kits and water and sanitation.

"But we also acknowledge that there is a longer-term objective that we also need to work with the government of Vanuatu to respond to the recovery process."

"To help communities rebuild, to help schools and health facilities return to the situation they were in before this tragedy," she said.
