The New Zealand coach John Plumtree has been offered a 3-year extension to his contract with the South African Super 14 rugby side the Sharks.
There were rumours in Durban that Plumtree was facing the axe after suffering 3 straight losses.
The contract extension perhaps points to the players being the problem rather than the coach.
Plumtree had been mentioned as a possible contender for the Hurricanes job after coaching the Wellington NPC side, but the Hurricanes job has since gone to Mark Hammett.
Plumtree's wife is a Durban native.
The Sharks are in Sydney to play the New South Wales Waratahs tomorrow night.
