The tourism industry is praising the decision to allow overseas fans coming to next year's Cricket World Cup to travel between Australia and New Zealand on one visa.

Australia and New Zealand will co-host the 2015 tournament and tickets go on sale next week.

The Tourism Industry Association and Australia's Tourism and Transport Forum have been campaigning for simplified visa requirements.

Tourism Industry Association policy and research manager Simon Wallace said a single visa makes the process simpler and cheaper for visitors.

He said processing times for people coming from key cricketing countries like India and Pakistan are usually slow and he hopes more fans from those countries will now travel to New Zealand.
