Two investigators from the Traffic Accident Investigation Commission will head to Queenstown to look into a jetboat crash in which 12 people were injured.
Police received a report about the incident on the Shotover River, near Tucker Beach Road, north of Queenstown at midday.
One person who was seriously injured and four others who suffered moderate injuries were taken by helicopter to Lakes District Hospital.
The other seven suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
A spokesperson for jetboat operator KJet Queenstown said information was still being gathered about what happened.
The spokesperson said passengers were being assessed by medical staff, and spoken to by police.
Fire and Emergency and police attended the scene.
The Traffic Accident Investigation Commission said two investigators will head to Queenstown in the morning.
Chief Investigator of Accidents Harald Hendel said the two investigators have expert knowledge in this field, including jet boat operations, engineering and maintenance.
Maritime New Zealand and KJet Queenstown have also announced inquiries.
