The New Zealand women's hockey team has started it's Champions Challenge campaign in South Africa with a comprehensive 3-nil victory over Spain.
The Black Sticks managed 5 penalty corners in the first half, scoring from two of them... while Spain had 7 penalty corners but failed to score from any thanks to a superb display in goal by Beth Jurgeleit.
Kayla Sharland scored after 2 minutes and Clarissa Eshuis after 21 minutes, while Anita Punt completed the scoring midway through the second half with a field goal.
New Zealand's next match is against Italy, who were beaten 4-1 by Spain in their opening match.
The Champions Challenge is for the teams outside the top six in the world who play the Champions Trophy.
